Paul Chesis, MD, PhD

Paul L. Chesis, M.D., Ph.D., completed undergraduate studies at the University of California, Berkeley (B.A. biochemistry), medical school at Washington University in St. Louis (M.D.) and graduate school at Washington University in St. Louis (Ph.D. organic chemistry). After his doctoral training, Dr. Chesis completed an internal medicine internship at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO followed by a residency in nuclear medicine at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology in St. Louis, MO, and a residency in diagnostic radiology at the University of California in Los Angeles. Dr. Chesis is Board Certified in Diagnostic Radiology (ABR) and in Nuclear Medicine (ABNM). After completing his radiology training, he moved with his wife and four children to Kansas City. Dr. Chesis was a partner and member of the board of directors for United Imaging Consultants in Kansas City before becoming Chief of interventional radiology at Saint Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City and Clinical Associate Professor of Radiology at the University of Missouri, Kansas City. In addition to his busy interventional radiology practice, Dr. Chesis conducted an active clinical research program as the local principle investigator for 3 large multicenter national trials and he directed the training of the UMKC radiology residents in interventional radiology and nuclear medicine. Dr. Chesis has delivered many interventional radiology lectures with a focus on advances in interventional oncology, treatment of vertebral fractures, acute stroke therapy and the management of venous vascular disease. Dr. Chesis specializes in providing excellent patient care across the complete spectrum of vascular and interventional radiology services. Paul and his wife Julie are very happy to call Peoria, IL their new home. Outside of work, Paul enjoys traveling, theater, music and entertaining family and friends.
